Okezue’s Learnings from 2020

This one’s a good one.

Sometimes, meeting with people can feel like such an uphill battle. Especially when it’s an important meeting.

I remember my meeting.

Nervousness, trying to read facial expressions, look confident on camera, speak a certain way…ugh.

Not good.

I’ve realized that the purpose of engaging is to teach, learn, and connect. One of the best balances is when you can teach the person you’re talking to something, have them teach you a lot more, and in the end, you end up best friends.

I would say that things is one of my most impactful learnings from 2020, and I want to share it with everyone, quick and simple.

1. Stop Getting Nervous

This one isn’t super easy, but its very manageable. Especially on Zoom, there are multiple ways to do this:

✅ Study and think beforehand. Don’t rehearse. Just understand who you’re talking to, what you want to talk about, and be yourself.

✅ Stop doing all of that annoying fidgeting. Sit on your hands if you have to.

✅ Smile; don’t seem eager, seem thoughtful.

✅ Close all computer tabs. One of the best ways to calm your mind is to make everything around you less busy.
